About our team
Our department provides Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy, and Speech Pathology services to patients of the Women’s and encompasses the clinical streams of Women’s Health and Neonatal care.
About the role
As a Speech Pathologist in Neonatal team you will provide safe, specialised Speech Pathology assessments and intervention to our paediatric population of inpatients and outpatients. You'll also model clinical leadership, mentor junior staff and participate and engage in research. We have a philosophy of individualised support which underpins the elements of our clinical care.
A regular day may see you:
- Work within an integrated, multidisciplinary team to provide safe assessment and treatment of infants with communication and swallowing/feeding disorders in Intensive and Special Care.
- Provide education to staff in the unit and being involved in the development and implementation of developmentally supportive care practices.
- Coordinate referrals for infants requiring assessment and develop treatment plans in consultation with families and staff within the unit and in relevant outpatient follow-up clinics
- Ensure that discharged patients are referred to adequate follow-up therapy as appropriate.
- Review and develop procedures, guidelines, and frameworks for the department, as requested.
- Attend the appropriate clinical meetings to assess relevance and results of service provision and learn about the patient experience.

You will be someone with excellent interpersonal and communication skills who is committed to providing excellence in patient care.
To be successful within this role you will have:
- Relevant undergraduate/qualifying degree in Speech Pathology
- Experience with Neonates
