  • $86,580 - $107,510 (pro-rata for part time) + salary packaging + super + 5- 6 weeks annual leave

About Neonatal Services

 

Our Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) is a leading tertiary referral centre, providing specialised care to premature and critically ill babies across Victoria. We are committed to a Family Integrated Care (FiCare) model, where families are recognised as essential partners in care. Parents are actively involved in decision-making and day-to-day care, supported to build confidence, independence and connection with their baby.

 

Our neonatal team is known for clinical excellence, education and research, and contributing to the advancement of neonatal care locally and globally.

 

About the role

 

As a Registered Nurse within our Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), you will provide highly specialised care to premature and critically ill newborns requiring intensive monitoring and advanced clinical support.

 

You will work in a high-acuity environment, delivering complex neonatal care while supporting optimal outcomes for babies and their families.

 

A key component of this role is delivering care within our Family Integrated Care (FiCare) model, partnering closely with parents as active participants in their baby’s care. You will support, educate and empower families, ensuring they are confident, informed and involved throughout their neonatal journey.

 

This role requires strong clinical expertise, critical thinking and the ability to respond effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. You will be supported to further develop your neonatal skills through mentorship, education and ongoing professional development.

 

A regular day will see you: 

 

  • Delivering high-quality intensive care to critically ill and premature neonates in a high-acuity NICU
  • Managing complex clinical situations with sound judgement and clinical expertise 
  • Assessing, planning and evaluating care to optimise neonatal outcomes while working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team
  • Partnering with families through a Family Integrated Care (FiCare) model including educating and supporting families to build confidence and independence
  • Applying evidence-based practice to ensure safe, effective and compassionate care.

 

About you:

 

  • Registered Nurse Division 1 with current AHPRA registration
  • Postgraduate qualification in neonatal nursing (completed, in progress, or equivalent)
  • Extensive experience in a high-acuity NICU environment
  • Advanced clinical judgement and critical thinking in complex neonatal scenarios
  • Committed to delivering safe, evidence-based and family-integrated care
  • Highly effective communicator and collaborative team member
