About the program
The RUSON/RUSOM program is a fantastic opportunity to grow your clinical knowledge and build confidence within a supportive environment!
Registered Undergraduate Students of Nursing (RUSONs) are allocated to support our team in the Women’s Emergency Care (WEC). Registered Undergraduate Students of Midwifery (RUSOMs) are allocated to support our maternity team in our postnatal wards.
As a RUSON/RUSOM, a regular shift would see you:
- 
Restocking non-emergency equipment and supplies 
- 
Cleaning and maintaining equipment 
- 
Assisting patients with daily living activities, including mobility, hygiene and comfort 
- 
Supporting the nursing/midwifery team with routine patient care 
- 
Contributing to a safe, welcoming and culturally inclusive environment for women, newborns and families 
Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander applicants

About you
You will be someone who values teamwork and learning, showing empathy, initiative and collaboration in creating a safe and welcoming environment for women, newborns and families.
You will:
- 
Be currently enrolled in and commencing 2nd year of a Bachelor of Midwifery in January 2026 (RUSOM programs only) OR 
- 
Be currently enrolled in and commencing 2nd – 4th (final year) of Bachelor of Nursing or a dual degree Bachelor of Midwifery/Bachelor of Nursing in January 2026 OR 
- 
Be currently enrolled in and commencing 2nd year of a Bachelor of Nursing in January 2026 (RUSON positions only). 
- 
Be reliable and able to commit to a minimum of one shift per week 
- 
Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills
