About the team

Our Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) is a leading tertiary referral centre, providing specialised care to premature and critically ill babies across Victoria.

We are committed to a Family Integrated Care (FiCare) model, where families are recognised as essential partners in care. Parents are actively involved in decision-making and day-to-day care, supported to build confidence, independence and connection with their baby.

Our neonatal team is known for clinical excellence, education and research, contributing to the advancement of neonatal care locally and globally.

Leading care for babies. Partnering with families every step of the way.

About the role

Working within our Special Care Nursery (SCN) and High Dependency Unit (HDU), you will provide specialised care to premature, unwell, and medically complex infants while partnering with families through our Family Integrated Care (FiCare) model. You will play an essential role in supporting infants through critical stages of their care journey, helping to ensure the best possible outcomes from admission through to discharge.

As a valued member of our multidisciplinary team, you will use your clinical expertise, critical thinking, and compassion to deliver safe, evidence-based care in a dynamic and supportive environment. You will also have opportunities to continue developing your neonatal skills through ongoing learning, mentorship, quality improvement initiatives, and collaboration with some of Australia's leading neonatal clinicians.

This role offers a rewarding opportunity to combine advanced clinical practice with family intergrate care, supporting babies and their families during some of the most significant moments of their lives.

A regular day will see you:

  • Deliver specialised neonatal care to premature, unwell, and medically complex infants within our Special Care Nursery (SCN) and High Dependency Unit (HDU).
  • Assess, monitor, and respond to changes in an infant's condition using sound clinical judgement and evidence-based practice.
  • Provide respiratory support, including CPAP and HFNP, while maintaining a safe and developmentally supportive environment.
  • Partner with parents and families through our Family Integrated Care (FiCare) model, supporting their active involvement in their baby's care journey including educating, empowering and advocating for families, helping build confidence and independence in caring for their baby.

You enjoy working as part of a multidisciplinary team and bring sound clinical judgement to the care of premature, unwell and medically complex infants. You are committed to ongoing learning, professional development and contributing to a positive team culture.

You’ll bring with you:
