About the team
Health Information Services (HIS) at the Women's covers a range of services including Electronic Medical Record (EMR) support, clinical coding, statutory reporting and data integrity, medical enquiries/release of information (ROI) requests, retrieval of historic medical record for research, and medical transcription (outpatient service).
About the role
As an Manager Health Information Services, you will be responsible for guiding the strategic direction and optimising the operational performance of Health Information Services, ensuring the delivery of high-quality, customer-centric services. In addition, this position serves as the organization's designated Privacy Officer
A regular day will see you:
- Lead and support your HIS team, providing guidance, resolving challenges, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement and service excellence.
- Fulfill your responsibilities as the organization’s Privacy Officer, which includes overseeing privacy compliance, leading data breach response efforts, and ensuring all regulatory reporting obligations are met.
- Collaborate with Informatics portfolio to support revenue optimization initiatives, working closely with finance and clinical departments to ensure accurate and timely data capture and coding practices.
- Attend meetings with internal stakeholders to align HIS strategies with broader organizational goals and explore opportunities to enhance service delivery through innovation and technology.
- Deliver high-quality, customer-focused health information services while safeguarding data privacy and driving operational performance.
- Support revenue optimisation activities through the Data and Coding teams and collaborating with other partners
About you
You’ll bring with you:
- You'll hold a Bachelor’s degree in Health Information Management or equivalent and you’ll be eligible for full membership of the Health Information Management Association of Australia (HIMAA).
- Minimum of five years’ experience in health information or similar service
- At least two years’ experience in a senior management role
- In-depth knowledge of contemporary Health Information Management (HIM) practices, including relevant legislation, policy and health funding
- Strong organisational, communication, leadership, and negotiation skills, along with excellent interpersonal and presentation abilities.
- Proven experience with performance frameworks, health funding models and related data collections and solid understanding of health information legislation, medical record management, and privacy regulations.
- Prior experience as a Privacy Officer
- Strong leadership experience in managing teams within a multi-functional department.
