About the role
The Women’s is Australia’s leading independent specialist hospital for women dedicated to improving the health and wellbeing of women of all ages and cultures, and newborn infants. The Women’s is a major teaching hospital with strong affiliations to the University of Melbourne, with research and education integral to its role. The Women’s serves an annual cohort of 80,000 patients, delivering more than 7,000 babies. The Women’s is the tertiary referral centre for high-risk obstetric patients in Melbourne and further afield in the state of Victoria and Australia-wide.
The Gynaecology 2 Unit provides advanced treatment and care to women with endometriosis, chronic pelvic pain and other general gynaecological conditions.
The Gynaecology 2 Fellow is responsible for the provision of excellent clinical care to women who are outpatients or inpatients of the Royal Women's Hospital.
The area of practice will be limited to the relevant specialty area, except as agreed or as necessary in exceptional circumstances.
Fellows undertake a range of training opportunities in clinical and research aspects of benign gynaecology with a focus on endometriosis and chronic pelvic pain under the supervision of the Head of Gynaecology 2 and other Consultant Senior Medical Staff.
About you
The Fellow will provide care:
- In consultation with supervising Consultants as appropriate.
- In accordance with rosters, daily duties and notes to daily duties as published on the Junior Medical Staff rosters website and varied from time to time (except as otherwise directed).
- Taking account of best available evidence regarding quality and safety including RWH Clinical Practice Guidelines.
- With effective communication with other members of the multidisciplinary team providing care.
- With accountability for care delivered by more junior medical staff under supervision or delegation.
- Comprehensively including timely record-keeping, discharge preparation and communication with referring practitioners and those providing ongoing care.
Training Program
The Royal Women’s Hospital is accredited by AGES to provide designated advanced laparoscopy and hysteroscopy training. This specific position is a shared position with the Mercy Hospital for Women.
The Classification and Salary scale will be dependent on experience and you will be appointed and in accordance to the AMA Victoria – Victorian Public Health Sector – Doctors in Training Enterprise Agreement 2022-2026.
