  • Part time (0.42 FTE), fixed term until 7/2/27 and (0.42 FTE) Ongoing Diabetes Educator roles
  • Parkville location, with multiple public transport options available
  • $124,368.40 salary/range (pro-rata for part time) + salary packaging + super + 5 weeks annual leave

About the team

Diabetes Educators are responsible for strengthening health outcomes through the provision of safe, quality, holistic and sensitive care, for women with diabetes in pregnancy. They work collaboratively in partnership with patients, consumers and other health professionals.


About the role

The Diabetes Education Team provides education and support to all women with diabetes with the aim of preventing diabetes complications in women.

A regular day will see you:

  • Notify and arrange follow up to women with positive GTT results
  • Provide clinical care/advice for women with diabetes in the pregnancy clinics in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team
  •  Provide education and ongoing monitoring for women who are either newly diagnosed or have existing diabetes (gestational /type 1/ type 2 diabetes) in pregnancy. This care is provided in group sessions and in one-to-one consultations either virtually or face to face
  • Provide and participate in quality activities and research projects to facilitate and maintain best practice particularly in Diabetes in pregnancy.
  • Provide advice for clinicians working with women who have diabetes in pregnancy

About you

You’ll bring with you:

  •  Strong skills in simplifying complex information and engaging patients of diverse backgrounds including the ability to understand and respect patients’ individual circumstances and cultural needs
  • Proficient in both one-on-one and group education formats
  • Ability to teach patients about insulin use, blood glucose monitoring, healthy nutrition, exercise, stress management,
  • Skilled in teaching patients correct finger-stick techniques, CGM systems, and insulin pump usage.
  •  Understanding different insulin types, delivery methods, and diabetes in pregnancy
