About the role

The Women’s provides comprehensive care for women with fibroids, heavy menstrual bleeding and complex benign gynaecological conditions, with significant crossover into dysmenorrhoea & endometriosis.

The Gynaecology 1 Unit is seeking a specialist with advanced operative capability, including independent Levels 5–6 laparoscopic surgery and/or contemporary open surgical skills (e.g. complex hysterectomy, myomectomy).

The role will involve both outpatient clinics and theatre.

The successful candidate will join a well-established team managing high-volume benign gynaecology, contributing confidently to decision-making and service delivery across elective and acute care.

Consultants undertaking elective surgical lists are also expected to participate in the after-hours Acute Gynaecology roster, as well as unit meetings, audits, research and Gynaecology service Morbidity & Mortality meetings. As a tertiary teaching hospital, the role includes structured and non-structured teaching, training and supervision of medical students and junior doctors.

 

About you

You will bring with you:

  • Must hold or be eligible for registration with the Medical Practitioners Board of Australia
  • Attained Fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists
  • Demonstrated independent competency in advanced laparoscopic surgery (Level 6 preferred) and/or complex open benign gynaecological procedures
  • Experience in managing large pelvic masses, complex abdominal surgical conditions and acute gynaecology presentations in a tertiary setting
  • Highly developed verbal and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability in management and navigation of stakeholder involvement in public sector institutions
  • Knowledge of women’s health issues in relation to the target population of RWH
