About the role

 

The Women’s is excited to introduce an additional surgical list to is already well established abortion and contraception services ACS. In addition the surgical list is linked to one clinical session per week for patient consultation regarding contraception and abortion options. The focus of the ACS service is to offer high-quality, safe and value-based care that is inclusive and culturally safe and improves access to reproductive health services for those who are currently underserviced by the private sector. This includes single people, Aboriginal Victorians, LGBTIQ+ Victorians, people with a disability, people from culturally and linguistically diverse communities, people from regional / rural communities and people living on low incomes.

 

Sitting within the Women’s Health Services Unit:

The roles would involve clinical service in the areas of reproductive health which would include outpatient clinic, surgical operating, supervision and teaching of undergraduates and specialist trainees.

It would be expected that suitable applicants participate in unit meetings and audits as well as attending and participating in structured meetings such as Morbidity/Mortality meeting and departmental meeting. RWH is a tertiary teaching hospital and the role comprises structured and non- structured teaching, training and supervision of medical students and junior doctors.

 

About you

Experience/Qualifications/Competencies

  • Must hold or be eligible for registration with the Medical Practitioners Board of Australia
  • Attained Fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists
  • Surgical abortion  skills  including  second  trimester
  • Early  medical abortion  provider
  • Early  trimester  USS  skills siting  and  dating of pregnancies
  • Insertion of  LARC   implants  and  IUD/IUS
  • Laparoscopic  skills  Level  2
  • Highly developed verbal and written communication skills
  • Knowledge of women’s health issues in relation to the target population of RWH
