  • Part time (0.6 FTE), ongoing role 
  • Parkville location, with multiple public transport options available
  • $124,368.40 (pro-rata for part time) + salary packaging + super + 5 weeks annual leave

About the team

We lead the optimising of the competency and capability of The Women’s nurses and midwives that enables them to work safely and at the top of their scope of practice. We adapt to contemporary ways of interprofessional learning, accessing tools and resources that meet the needs of the health workforce and the health system. We identify competency and capability levels and gaps across the workforce cohorts, and:

  • Develop tools, resources and timely access to clinical education and development
  • Partner, using codesign, with CNS/CMS, unit managers/team leaders, AUMs, Quality and Safety, People, Culture and Wellbeing (PCW) and the broader RN/RM workforce to embed ongoing professional development
  • Collaborate and partner with universities to maximise student capability and build research projects that better inform the advancement of clinical nursing and midwifery in Victoria.

 We support state-wide capacity and capability by sharing our tools, resources and expertise; initiating collaborations; and learning from nurses and midwives across Victoria’s regional, rural and metro services and offering our tools, resources and programs. Through these efforts we contribute to the attraction, retention and capability of the Victorian healthcare workforce and enable better care for women babies and families.

 

About the role

This key education leadership role develops and delivers educational content to build a competent The Clinical Educator is accountable for efficient, effective and well-planned delivery education to support to learners at the Women’s to be ‘ the best that they can be’ thereby contributing to the strategic plan of the organization by: 

    • Facilitating clinical learning, guiding, supporting and evaluating learners working in Perioperative services

    • Developing programs of learning that result in a skilled and competent workforce • Tilting and innovating workforce programs ‘ on the run’ to meet service and organizational workforce requirements

    • Coaching learners to success and mastery of fundamental nursing skills and application of knowledge through on the ground education support

    • Supporting the competency requirements of our nursing and midwifery workforce as outlined in the credentialing scope of clinical practice nurses and midwives guideline

     • Assists in the visionary strategic and operational service planning in line with the hospital’s strategic direction and annual Statement of Priorities

    • Actively supports priority placements for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander learners and role models cultural safety

     • Supports buddy/preceptor nurses/midwives who supervise learners 

 

About you

We are looking for an experienced perioperative nurse who is creative, innovative and brings a ‘can do’ approach to building capability in all perioperative team members.

You’ll bring with you:

  • Recent advanced and extensive current clinical skills in Perioperative Nursing
  • Demonstrated ability to create positive learning environments for learners at all levels
  • Commitment to a multidisciplinary team approach
  • Values consultation, collaboration and joint decision making
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development
  • Ideally, a post graduate qualification in perioperative services or education / facilitation
