About the team
Reproductive Services Unit including the Public Fertility Care Service, is built on decades of leadership in fertility care. In 2022 we successfully secured funding to established Australia’s first fully public fertility care service designed to provide comprehensive person-centred fertility care to eligible patients. The focus of our service is to offer high-quality, safe and value-based care that is inclusive and culturally sale and improves access to fertility services for those who are currently underserviced by the private sector. This include single people, Aboriginal Victorian’s, LGBTIQ+ Victorian’s, people with a disability, people from culturally and linguistically diverse communities, people from regional / rural communities and people living on low incomes.
Our service includes:
- Investigations for infertility
- Treatment to resolve conditions which affect fertility
- Assistance to achieve a pregnancy through IVF, artificial insemination, donor insemination and ovulation induction
- Protecting fertility prior to treatment which may damage fertility, such as chemotherapy
- Surrogacy
- Pre-implantation genetic testing
- Outpatient clinics
- Post-humous sperm collection
- Ovarian and testicular tissue transport
- Donor Egg and Sperm Bank
About the role
As an Clinical Educator (hereafter CE) you will provide effective and efficient training and professional development to nurses working in Reproductive Services Unit (RSU) and across the Public Fertility Care Service (PFC). The position of CE is an education role within the nursing team requiring professionalism and integrity. You will be responsible for developing, coordinating and implementing an educational framework which responds to the levels of competency required by the FNA guidelines for RTAC accredited nursing. In liaison with the Nurse Unit Manager (NUM), you will take a leadership role in regard to, and complies with, all relevant statutory requirements and should have a current working knowledge of the laws and regulations regarding Assisted Reproductive Technologies. In addition, you will be a role model to all other staff and is often the ‘face of the organisation’ when dealing with internal and external customers. As such, a high standard of customer service provision should be exemplified at all times.
A regular day will see you:
- Develop and maintain an effective education and training management system, ensuring nurses are suitably trained and up to date with changes and processes
- Completes annual competency for ultrasound skills with RSU Medical or Clinical Director
- Coordinate the nursing education and training program including the orientation of new nursing staff and in-service training to ensure that all new nurses deliver care in an expert and professional manner
- Monitor and evaluate the care provided by the Nursing team and advocate on behalf of the staff, patients and visitors
About you
You’ll bring with you:
- Current registration with AHPRA as a Division 1 Registered Nurse
- Minumum of three years acute nursing experience
- Minumum of three years fertility nursing experience
